History of DAV Bharmour
The Origin Story & The DFO's Vision
In the early 1990s, Bharmour was a highly isolated, rugged tribal area lacking access to modern educational infrastructure. Recognizing this severe gap, the Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Mr Avtar Singh stationed in Bharmour in 1993 took a deep personal interest in upgrading the region's social landscape.
The DFO envisioned a school that could combine modern scientific education with deep moral values, preventing local children from having to migrate to distant cities for a decent schooling experience.
Turning the Dream into Reality
To execute this vision, the DFO Mr. Avtar Singh, alongside passionate local people Late Sh. Bhan Singh Kapoor, First Chairman of the school. approached the DAV College Managing Committee (DAVCMC) in New Delhi. With the continuous support of Late Sh. Tulsi Ram, Sh. Megh Nath Shastri, Sh. Gopi Ram, Sh. Jaisi ram, Sh. Moti Ram etc Members of Manimahesh Yuvak Mandal.
From a small regional initiative sparked by local people in 1993, the school
Established in 1993 in the picturesque and culturally rich tribal region of Bharmour in the Chamba district of Himachal Pradesh, DAV Public School Bharmour has spent over three decades acting as a beacon of academic opportunity. Founded on the intersection of modern scientific learning and traditional Vedic values, the school has played a critical role in bringing premium English-medium education to a traditionally remote mountain community.

Foundation & Tribal Outreach (1993)
Responding to popular demand from the local community, the DAV College Managing Committee (DAVCMC), New Delhi, officially established the school. Its primary mission was to serve the children of this tribal area with top-tier education based on Arya Samaj principles. The school originally opened its doors in close proximity to Bharmour's world-famous, ancient Chourasi Temples.
The Dadwan Campus Expansion (2012)
As student enrollment scaled, the school expanded beyond its original footprint to establish a second campus roughly two miles away in Village Dadwan. The state-of-the-art school building at Dadwan was constructed through a community welfare partnership with the National Hydroelectric Power Corporation (NHPC), a Government of India undertaking. Block-B was constructed by our Chairman sir Mr K.K. Mahajan Ji. Block C is under construction.
Modern Digital Transformation (Present)
Today, the co-educational school handles around 380 students. Affiliated with the CBSE New Delhi, it has fully transitioned into the modern era by retrofitting traditional classrooms into tech-enabled smart classrooms and securing the entire campus under active CCTV surveillance.
